In this Dtec Forum, the key components of successful smart cities were explored. A smart city is a municipality that integrates multiple infrastructure, information and communication and digital technology to increase operational efficiency in its city. Smart cities optimize city functions by connecting, protecting and sharing information with the city operator and citizens to improve both the quality of government services and citizen welfare. Smart cities aim to provide positive contributions to the city and community. To achieve worthwhile outcomes for both the city and community, smart cities have to offer fundamental benefits such as data transparency, integrated technology, collaboration, efficiency, engagement and solutions.
